James A. Kim, MD is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist. He earned a bachelor of music with distinction in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music, after which he decided to transition from a career in music to medicine. He spent a year conducting translational research at the National Institutes of Health prior to enrolling at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry where he received his medical degree. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center, during which time he was given the Alan Charney Award for excellence in research. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Kim practices general gastroenterology, with a particular interest in cancer screening and nutrition. He has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles and presented original research at national meetings. He is an attending physician at NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn, and enjoys working with medical students, residents, and fellows. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
